College can be overwhelming. Lots of excitement, new freedom and a lot of responsibility. The key is to create a routine at the get go that will help you build on the fundamentals.
First, you should make sure you have the materials you need to pay attention in class. Do your reading before class! By preparing you will be able to retain information better.
Second, create good study habits. Come home and do your homework first, before the fun. If that's not possible, schedule an immovable block so that you always create a time to do your homework and study. If where you live isn't calm, plan to go to the library where you can focus.
Third, create your own study guides. As you work through your reading and assignments, make a tracker of everything you learn so that you can go back and review and create study guides for your exams. Depending on your learning style, create them as you go: flashcards, summaries, etc.
Fourth, don't overly rely on AI tools. To be successful, you have to KNOW this material, especially as a nurse.
Finally, make sure you schedule in time for breaks and fun too. College is a great time of self-discovery and you only get one chance!
