In your experience, do you recommend letting people who are in your personal life to read and edit your personal statement for PA school or paying for an editing service?

I will be applying to PA school in 2027, but because I actually don't know any PAs in my life or have any mentors, I am a little lost. I get conflicting advice from people who don't know what I'm going through or who don't have insight into PA school. If any of you are open to mentorship, I would definitely be glad

Danielle’s Answer

When I needed to write a statement for nursing school, I turned to people around me with similar career goals for help. I got feedback from a lawyer friend and a paramedic who became an emergency response director. These friends understood the path to higher education and the value of a strong statement because we had worked together in EMS and they had pursued masters degrees.

Remember to use your school’s resources too. Most schools have writing centers that can help you with your resume, CV, and personal statements. This is a great starting point, and then you can ask someone to review it for more advice. Make sure your statement highlights what drives you and your future goals with your degree.
