What are the main factors to consider when deciding between becoming a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) and a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM), and how do these choices impact career opportunities and personal fulfillment?

Hi, I'm Angela, a junior becoming a senior in August. I'm having a dilemma about which route I want to take to become a midwife. Originally, I was going to go the CPM route, going straight into it after high school, but I'm worried if I'll have any employment when I get my certification. I don't want to go through the CNM route, but if it means steady employment, I might have to. I love everything about Labor & Delivery, women's health, and the concept of being able to choose where to give birth. It would be really helpful if someone could share their perspective on what led them to become a CPM or CNM, and what the process was like for them.
