How can I start earning money in my first year of college?

I read books in my free time. I follow trends on instagram but don't post it. I am going to start my college in July ending. My major is in Biotechnology and minor in Chemistry.

The best way to start earning money in your first year of college is to look for flexible opportunities that won't affect your studies. Since you'll be adjusting to a new academic environment, I'd recommend starting with part-time online work such as tutoring, freelance writing, virtual assistance, data entry, or transcription.

Since you're majoring in Biotechnology with a minor in Chemistry, you can also take advantage of your academic strengths. As you progress in your studies, you may be able to tutor younger students in science subjects, assist with research projects, or apply for internships related to your field.

My advice is not to focus only on earning money right away. Try to build valuable skills alongside your studies. Skills such as writing, research, data analysis, and communication can open up better-paying opportunities later on. Starting small and gaining experience during your first year can put you in a strong position by the time you graduate.

Thank you for your question. Below are my suggestions :
1. You can explore any working opportunities in the colleges, e.g. labs, libraries, administration, etc.
2. Explore any part time working opportunities in the lab nearby
3. Check with your neighbors any assistance they need, e.g. baby sitting, gardening, etc.
4. Identify other working opportunities in the neighourhood
5. Explore any working opportunities in chain stores, e.g supermarket, fast food shops, etc.
Hope this helps! Good Luck!
May Almighty God bless you!

Hi Prisha,

Great question. Some of the biotech careers include:
1. Research scientist/lab scientist
2. Clinical research associate
3. Bioinformatics analyst

It will all depend on what you would like to do. Do you like lab work, data, manufacturing regulations or client-facing work? Since you're just starting college, a great way to start would be as an intern (paid/unpaid) with a pharma/biopharma, or biotech startup. Try to learn as much as possible and get hands on experience before you start earning.

Another possible option is to learn more about data - bioinformatics and computational biology. You can also think about clinical research path as your career. These are long term goals but you need to try these options over the next few years to get practical knowledge and understand which career path is the right path for you.

I would also recommend using an AI search engine and research other options. If you know what kind of questions you need to ask, AI can be surprisingly helpful. Hope this helps.
