Hello there,
To get a job in web scraping and automation, first build strong skills in Python, web scraping tools, APIs, and automation frameworks. Create a portfolio with real projects that demonstrate data extraction, automation, and problem-solving.
For remote opportunities, look on platforms like Upwork, Freelancer, LinkedIn, and Indeed. Many people start with freelance projects to gain experience before moving into full-time remote roles. Your projects and practical experience will matter more than certifications alone.

Hi Logic! Freelance sites are a good place to start, but I would not rely on only one path. For web scraping and automation, try searching for related job titles like Python automation developer, data extraction specialist, Scrapy developer, Selenium automation, Playwright automation, QA automation engineer, or RPA developer. Some employers may need the skill but may not use the exact words ‘web scraping’ in the job title. For places to look, start with platforms like Upwork, Fiverr, Freelancer, LinkedIn, Indeed, Arc, RemoteOK, Wellfound, Andela, and Remote Career Africa. Since you want remote work, also search for ‘remote Python automation,’ ‘remote data extraction,’ and ‘remote web scraping.’
The biggest thing that will help you get hired is proof that you can do the work. Build a small portfolio with 2–3 projects, such as a scraper that saves public website data into Excel/CSV, a price tracker, a job listing tracker, or an automation script using Selenium or Playwright. Put the code on GitHub and include a short explanation of what the project does. Also, learn to scrape responsibly. Always check whether a website allows scraping, avoid private or sensitive data, use rate limits, and use an official API when one is available. Clients and employers will trust you more if you understand both the technical side and the ethical side. Gist of it is to start small, apply consistently, and use each project to make your profile stronger. Best of luck!
