Hello!! I’m a professional residential/ commercial painter! This is a great question for either end of the painter spectrum whether it be painting murals or painting houses. The best advice I can give honestly is to simply quietly observe yet loudly question. I know some people can get easily annoyed by questions but those people are not the right teacher. I personally learned how to paint by watching and listening to the older coworkers who are considered “seasoned”. If they are any good at their job then they will happily pass along their failures and success stories. Grateful for what they endured and selfless to pass along their “what-not-to-do” memories. Pay attention to the talkers because hidden in the long “meaningless babble” are the secrets to their successful journey in their painting career. Just remember, the best person to learn from is the one who wants to teach you. Tell yourself “I’m new here, I’m not dumb, I’m just new and ready to learn.” Each soul will forever be a student, for tomorrow is not today and tomorrow is brand new for you! Good luck!!
