Dual enrollment course recommendations?

I want to go to med school and specialize in some sort of surgery but it will take a while. Im doing dual enrollment and im wondering what courses are best for cutting down that time. If I take my prerequisites now will I not have to do them when I go to college?

Hello,
If you are in high school, try to take as many dual credit or AP courses that allow you to earn college credits now before entering college. Additionally, most colleges will allow you to test out of some courses via CLEP testing. Most CLEP tests only require 50% of the answers to be correct to earn credit. It is affordable (usually under $100) and most colleges accept them. Be sure to confirm that your college will accept CLEP. If you take a practice CLEP and score at least a 60%, you should go ahead and take that test. You dont earn GPA, but you earn course credit. You can also save time by enrolling in summer school, winter break courses (when available) and study abroad. Do not burn yourself out. Be sure to make it a habit to regularly check with your academic advisor to make sure you are taking the classes that are required to complete what you need. Good luck, you will do well.

I was on a medical school admissions committee for several years. I am also a surgeon.
Take AP courses not for the credit but for the transcript as you apply for college. Some colleges accept AP credit, some do not. The medical school admissions committee likes to see that the student has taken the prerequisite courses and received a grade.

You need an operation. Dr. Smith went through the traditional route to become a surgeon, Dr. Brown took short cuts. Who do you want to operate on you?
