While a merit based scholarship can provide students with financial assistance for academic achievements, donors are often looking at more than just a GPA.

Alana’s Answer

Almost every college and university offers merit based scholarships. It is important to look up colleges you are interested in and determine what their typical GPA ranges and SAT/ACT ranges are for both admission into the college as well as for scholarships. If they do not have this on their website, you should feel free to call the college admissions office and ask to speak to the college counselor for your region. They will give you a general range for the GPA and SAT goals for merit based scholarships. I used to work in college admissions and often got asked this question so college counselors at every school are prepared to answer if you call. Best of luck!
