I am ready to go to any state to begin this journey. #sports-broadcasting #sports-media

Hi Julian,

Definitely depends on your desired career path but if there is one thing to give advice on is certainly to think about a school close to where you would ideally like to work. As cliche as it sounds, sports is truly a "who you know" industry and the best way to get positions is to meet people and network with professionals in your desired field. In saying that, selecting a school that might be close to where you want to work (USC and the Los Angeles Clippers or Georgetown with the Washington Nationals, etc.) will help because most of the professors and internship/job opportunities will be offered to those schools.

So do some research on what type of job or sport you would want to work and look at what schools have your desired degree and are in the close vicinity of those jobs.

Rafael’s Answer

Hi Julian,

It depends on what your passion is in the Sports Industry. For instance, if you want to pursue a management or executive path, than a Sports Management bachelor or master degree would be a good option. Whereas, if your heart is leaning towards being in front of the cameras, talking on the radio, writing news articles or being a field reporter, then Broadcast Journalism is the way to go. However, if you like both areas, a Sport Management degree with a concentration in Sports Multimedia will give you a very powerful base and expose you to a broader spectrum in the industry. Good luck!
