Kelly’s Answer

If you know how to use the equipment for the position and are familiar with the pieces of vehicles, you can excel very quickly. When I was graduating middle school (grade 8), neighboring technical schools had an auto mechanics program where one could go into the field upon high school graduation. For those that wanted to start their training after graduating high school. Some of the specializations take a bit longer- one example is the diesel or collision repair education. In my region, I see signs every day for repair techs at car dealers and for the diesel sector.
