Hello, I work in the construction industry on the software side of the house. There is a BIG shortage in skilled trades currently and it is expected to get worse over the next 5 years as many journeymen/women retire. The top trades in demand are heavy duty equipment technician, welders, millwrights and *carpenters.* It would be wise to look at what colleges near you offer courses on carpentry and eventually acquire an apprenticeship with a carpentry firm. Good luck!

Sophia’s Answer

I heard that the demand is going up by eight percent from 2016 to 2026-which is the average rate for jobs. So, the demand for carpenters is at around the same as other jobs.

Look here for more info. That's where I found this information.
