What do I have to look for as to getting a scholarship?

I am a senior in high school that is looking for an animator job. I do have a lower class family so this is really based on money. I don't really like asking for loans but I have to do what I have to do. I want to go to college but paying back the money. I am thinking about not going to college because of the money. I really love anime and art so my parents want me to put together so I am going to try for animation. #art #money

Hi Mariah,

You're a smart cookie to think ahead about the cost before committing yourself to your college career. Like previous comment, I would look for merit based scholarships or grants. It is also important to be intentional about which art schools you would like to enter -- each art school is very specific on the student and art portfolio they select and provide scholarship for. And finally, ensure that the financial aid you receive would cover your full academic career. There are some scholarships that only cover the first year.

Misty’s Answer

Mariah,

Do not let the cost of a college education scare you. Do not let it prevent you from getting a better education to help you get a better job. There are a million different scholarships out there for almost everything under the sun. Do your research. Also there are Pell Grants that you do not have to pay back that will allow you to pursue the career and education goals without the worry of the student loan debt. There are always things like contests for writing that you could enter to be able to enter and win scholarships to be able to help with cost as well.
