Andrew’s Answer

Hi Bianca-

I work in the social media field and can easily say that the thing I like most about my job is that things change all the time! It can be challenging to keep up with all of the new opportunities and technologies that are out there, but I like being challenged. It's a bit of a chess game, but being able to adjust your strategy and identify new opportunities to make a difference is something I thrive on. If you are someone who also enjoys these types of job characteristics then I highly encourage you to consider a role in this field!

Kelly’s Answer

Hi Bianca,

I work at a Fortune 500 company as a Community Relations Specialist. In this role, I support employees as they get involved and give back to their communities. For example, I help employees find volunteer opportunities that fit their skills, interests, and causes that they want to support. I feel like I have found my dream job - at an amazing company - but it took a few years to get here. I left college not entirely sure what career I wanted to pursue and ended taking on an AmeriCorps position. This role led me to numerous opportunities in the nonprofit sector, which didn't always pay well but I always was passionate about my work and I always saw that my work was making a difference in the live of those less fortunate than me. After five years in the nonprofit sector, I found a job that allows me to connect other peoples passions to doing good work in the community.

All this to say, 1) it is okay to not have an exact plan going into or leaving college, but be open to new and challenging opportunities and 2) it may take a little while to get to your "dream job" or to a company/role that really excites you and that you are passionate about.

Best of luck to you as you explore different career paths!
