alan’s Answer

Dreams are a mystery. Are they fantasy constructs or are they hopeful goals? I suspect dreams are a little of both. Fantasy is a playful, and creative play on reality. It gives us a false view of our reality. In college I dreamed of courageous civil rights work. In reality I became a teacher. I was offered a position as director of a human relations program but the salary was less than the poverty line. As a teacher I was able, in a small, carry out my dream but over time my dreams faded as I had to make living. However I now have a new dream of becoming a writer. We will see if that is fantasy or reality.

Operationalize your dreams into small, actionable steps

Nolan’s Answer

My dream is to become a army warrant officer and open my own fabrication shop, and join the army space program. I started out as army infantry however, I always had a interest in going to the aviation field. When my time got closer to getting out I applied for the reserve warrant officer program for flight school. I got accepted back in July. Since getting more involved with aviation I decided to become a welder so I get hands on experience in building whatever comes my way, so one day I could open a fabrication shop so I could work on planes and anything of aerospace nature.

Sandra’s Answer

Your dreams can often help you determine what motivates you. Exploring your dreams will help you determine what future you want for yourself. You may have multiple dreams and ideas, don't be afraid to try out different types of jobs. You can explore your opportunities and the world around you through elective classes, internships, part-time or temporary jobs, and job shadows.

Don't ever be afraid to try!

Richard’s Answer

My dream is simple.

My dream is for my family to remain happy, provided for, feel loved, supported and know that we can achieve anything.

Family for me is the foundation on which all my decision making is made. I know this is a very broad and potentially cliche answer, however as I have grown older and now have 2 children of my own, my view of the world and what makes me happy has shifted.

There is always more money to be made but you cannot get time back with family and friends, cherish and make the most of it

Beverley’s Answer

My dreams have evolved with each passing decade...the most important part of figuring out what my dreams are has been to ask myself what I want my life to look like? I have gotten stuck many times by this question. It is one thing to get hung up by a question. Quite another to get stuck in real life and realize that I had no idea what to do with my life. They best way for me to get past the block is to make a fantasy list of what I would do if money was no object. I call it the lottery fantasy. This fantasy setting allows me to completely build a life without any obstacles. Once I have a clear picture of what I want my life to look like I write a list. Then I look at the list and choose the most important things and those become my goals. I then organize which goals are the most important to me and make a real life plan to achieve them. This has worked really well for me over the years. I wish you the best of luck in finding your dreams and making them come true!
