It really depends on your experience, degree, specializations, employer and location. Pharmacists letter has some amazing job and salary information.

In 2015, full-time pharmacists made between $90,000 and $140,000 a year, with the average annual salary coming in between $112,000 and $119,000, depending on the data source. Staff pharmacists at mail-order pharmacies were the lowest paid in 2015, earning an average wage of $56.69 per hour.

According to the results of a PayScale.com survey, pharmacists’ annual salaries fell between $84,000 and $134,000 in 2016. The current median annual salary is $108,267.

Christopher’s Answer

The pay does vary depending on experience, certifications, geography, demand and other factors. The average pay is around $110,000/yearly.

I would recommend looking into much more than pay. Things such as work-life balance, stress level, fulfillment and job satisfaction are infinitely more important in the long run.

The cost of pharmacy school is also a factor that should be taken into consideration. The average cost of pharmacy school is $180,000 and that can increase by tens of thousands of dollars when factoring in living expenses for 4 years.

Christopher recommends the following next steps:

Speak with pharmacists in a variety of positions (community, independent, hospital, pharma, clinical)
Look into cost of education and consider financial implications
Research specific pharmacy schools and speak with students
Get a job in a pharmacy or hospital to see of you like it
Take a career personality test
