I would also suggest taking a look at Gensler in addition to the design firms that were mentioned below. Gensler is a design consultancy and performs some really interesting work around the world. I would suggest taking a look at the world of design consulting beyond just pure interior design; this will open up a world of possibilities that you may have not previously considered. Gensler, IDEO, and Prophet are all good examples of design firms to start your search.

Taylor,

The largest interior design firms are those that do commercial work. The top 100 are published yearly in Interiors Design magazine.

You may not be interested in following them though if you want to practice residential design rather than commercial. One way to find high quality designers to follow is by going to the (2) largest professional design organizations, ASID and IIDA. Both of these support interior designers on both sides of the business. Through these organizations you could also find local designers who are members that you may want to follow.

Hope this helps.

Pam

Thank you! Taylor A.

In addition to the many great suggestions above, i would suggest you take a look at Instagram. Many established interior design firms, newcomers, faces from TV leverage their social media account to share their work. Check on tags like #interiordesign, #interirors, #interiordesigner to find folks who are new to you, as well as see who some of the more well known brands are following for inspiration.

Holley’s Answer

Hi Taylor

I would also say Gensler, since they have so many offices around the country and do a wide variety of projects in many different areas. They are primarily a commercial firm, I believe. So, giving you other names would depend on which field you're interested in. For example, in hospitality design, I really admire the work of Yabu Pushelburg. I find that Interior Design magazine is a great place to see lots of great examples, and it will help you get to know the big firms, not just nationally, but internationally. They also have Interior Design Homes magazine if you're interested in residential design.

Holley

Thank you! Taylor A.

Jayne and Joan Michaels, Albert Pinto, Amy Lau, Alexa Hampton, Kelly Hoppen, Kelly Wearstler. These are some great designers but it all depends on what type of design you find attractive. Some people like a modern look and others do not. I think looking at other designer's styles will help you understand what you like and dislike as a whole. Look at the colors, textures, lighting, wood/bricks/structural foundation.

Thank you! :) Taylor A.
