When should I decide on a major?

I don't want to have to redo classes in college, when should I be decided on my major? #advising

I recommend you decide you major by your second year. This will ensure that you finish in four years. Work with your college counselor to map your 4 years of classes and this will help you avoid retaking classes. Remember you can take summer classes if you ever need to catch up.

Generally, I advise students to select a major towards the end of their sophomore year. This allows you to take a couple of classes and see what you like before you decide, and earn general education credits that count toward your degree.
