A drawing journal is a notebook you have on hand most of the time. You draw in it when you are in lectures, restaurants, or any place with an OK table and chair. I think they want to see more examples of your work and the progress of your skill.

Luz’s Answer

It is a notebook with several little drawings. They aren't asking for a particular notebook style, just a notebook with drawings. A lot of artist use this journal to practice new styles of drawings like comics style, cartoon, realistic, sketching... Or to improve a particular drawing style. You can use different media

Eric’s Answer

Hi Luz,
They're looking for samples of your work. A Drawing Journal is your sketchbook, a binder of your pictures, basically a version of a portfolio if you don't have one.

However, for college admissions its best to have a portfolio of your best work through high school. Projects from your art/design classes, personal work, any work you did for someone else.

You can possibly seek out help for portfolio development at school, at a gallery, at the local community college art department.
