If I understand your question properly, there are definitely different situations that may arise in which a patient may be in a life or death scenario. It depends on the type of specialty you pursue as a medical professional as well as how you wish to go about treating your patients (such as diagnostics, surgery, etc).
As I’m sure you would expect, surgeons definitely come in contact with more patients than others who may be in a life or death situation.
