What colleges/universities have programs dedicated to Sports Medicine?

I have always been keen on joining the Sports Medicine industry as an adult as it's a career that I'm interested in. However, because it's a less popular choice than your typical biology, anatomy, chemistry, physiology, etc., fields, it's also not a common major amongst universities. What are some good colleges/universities that provide a good Sports Medicine programs? #science #sportsmed #sportsmedicine #career

Hi Joel!

Here are a couple websites that can help you look for colleges and universities for sports medicine and any other field you are thinking of going into.

- This website shows rankings of the best schools per program and has wonderful resources for planning your undergraduate experience including career and financial planning: https://www.bestcolleges.com/careers/healthcare/sports-medicine/

- This website shows you the masteries of information at each degree level (Associates, Bachelors, Masters, etc.) : https://www.collegesanddegrees.com/programs/sports-medicine

- This website is also a college ranking website with many awesome resources about college life and doing your best while in college/university: https://www.collegechoice.net/rankings/best-sports-medicine-degrees/

- This website shows the closest colleges and universities to you if you use the search bar to the right: https://study.com/directory/category/index.html

These websites offer a lot of information on the sports medicine career and the colleges/universities that offer them, but finding the best ones for you will take some more personal digging because a lot goes into finding the right program for you, including: financial aid (apply to as many scholarships as you can), grades, academic rigor of the specific department, which colleges and universities have the best professors for this career, the overall college environment, whether you like state of their facilities, and more.

Down below I will write down some next steps that can help you with your search.
Hope this helps! Good luck with your college search!

Elizabeth recommends the following next steps:

Think about where geographically you would like to go for college/university.
Discuss with your parent(s)/guardian(s) financial affordances. These websites also have great links to places to apply for scholarships!
Develop a list of 10 schools you would like to further research. Look at their websites, and each section of them. Look them up in the news section of Google, and on social media to get a better feel of what is going on currently at the school.
Plan to visit the schools that interest you the most with your parent(s)/guardian(s). Many schools may also now have virtual tours. You can also prepare to have interviewers with recruiters for early decision if they offer them.
Apply to them. Get help from college counselors or other trusted adults or professionals to help you apply, edit your essay (and resume if you have one).

I would also look into colleges who have degrees in Kinesiology. That degree is very closely related to sports medicine.

This is taken off of the University of Massachusetts Amherst website: "Kinesiology majors use tools from molecular biology, neuroscience, engineering, medicine, and computer science to work on unique problems in a diverse array of settings that include laboratories, hospitals, health and wellness centers, and field environments. They are prominent in the health and fitness industry, in the health care system, and in the growing biotechnology industry, particularly in areas related to cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, and metabolic health."
