How long do you have to be in college to be a doctor?

Taimaine - you need bachelors degrre first which take 4 years and 5 years for speacilization and then 4-5 of residency program. Good Luck!

Hi Taimane! You have to be in college for four years to obtain a Bachelor's degree. You must take the MCAT (Medical College Admissions Test)-which you do in your junior or senior year- and then you apply to medical school which is four years. After medical school you complete residency where you are a doctor and are paid but not very much as you are still considered to be in training. Residency years do change based on speciality; for example surgery is 5 years while psychiatry is 4 years.
