I enjoy kids, and would love to work with children although I also enjoy makeup but have no clue where I should start.

I'm an upcoming senior with absolutely no clue on what I will do after high school. I have in mind some careers I'd like to persue but don't know exactly how to decide or where and how to start. #psychology #teaching #teacher

Hi Maria!
I see you like makeup and working with children. There are job opportunities in which you can do both at the same time! Disneyland has job opportunities where you are putting on makeup on children to make them feel like Princesses or fairy creatures. There are also makeup artists for children such as in pagents, dance competitions, cheer competitions and so on. I would recommend you to try this and if you don't like it, you can try other job opportunities within makeup or children. Don't lose hope and just continue trying different opportunities!

There are a number of very good vocational, assessment tools that are available to school Guidance Counselors. The two instruments that I have in mind are: the Strong Interest Inventory and Campbell Interest and Skill Inventory. Generally speaking, these inventories are only available to school Guidance Counselors and to psychologists for administration and interpretation. Hopefully, your school has a Guidance Counselor.

There are a number of inventories that are online. I cannot verify their reliability/validity, however. Here are two suggestions:

The Self-Directed Search, which would cost $9.95: http://www.self-directed-search.com/Home/gclid/CJj03b_4yM0CFVhZhgodm1IFeg
The O*Net Interest Profiler (free; but there really doesn't seem to be an adequate # of questions on it): https://www.mynextmove.org/explore/ip

There are others available online; simply put in the term "vocational interest inventories" and several links will appear in your favorite search engine.

I wish you the best in find a career that makes your hear sing! Good luck.
