[closed] How can someone open up their options in the field of business?

Hello,

I am a current business senior student in college, and my major is management. I have some limited business knowledge in the general vicinity of business. I have taken a few classes in accounting, marketing, management, and communication. My knowledge has started to prepare me for the workplace. The passion that I have for learning more about office management drives me to communicate with professionals. I hope to be a great employee and either start as an assistant manager or work my way up to one, whatever is more sensible. So far I do not have too much experience in business other than an associate's degree. I am close to obtaining my bachelor's degree now. Therefore, how would I open up my opportunities to get a great job in management? I know that having a degree does not guarantee anything, but I have seen classmates get great jobs and have the luck of the draw to be paid well.

Thank you, #business-administration #office-management #job-coaching

What is very important for you to understand is that "Manager" in an of itself is NOT a job. "Management" simply means a professional who has risen through the ranks, has held a job such as Marketing Associate, Senior Accountant, Programmer Analyst, Advertising Copywriter, etc, etc. A Marketing Manager for example is someone who has a number of years experience in Marketing and who also has supervisory responsibilities over other marketing professionals. This person also has decision making responsibilities. A Marketing Manager for example would have strategic planning tasks to develop marketing campaigns, manage a budget and will most likely collaborate with the sales team.

As a college student, your job is to gain some work experience in an area that you think you might be interested in and take additional courses in that area. By your Junior year, you should be in a position to declare a Major and a Minor, or a Double Major within the Business School of your college. Networking and meeting professionals who have different jobs can help you to learn about what their day to day jobs are. You can also work with a qualified Career Counselor to help you to figure out what career path might be a good fit for your talents and interests. Don't worry about "being a manager". Just focus on what your want to DO.
