Ideally you should be doing your 12th in Science ( PCM/E/C, You Can Pursue your further studies in Computers like in BCA/BE/MCA in college,But IT is a big space like it has IT-infrastructure,IT-hardware and networking,IT-Application/programmimg.
So select in which IT sector you want to get in and do course accordingly, Most of the people do programming course like .net,java,SAP etc so you can do that.

do internship and you should be able to build good career in IT/Networking
