Shrishti:

Volunteer experience is not a requirement if you want to go to Graduate school. If you are interested in a biochemistry graduate program you should try to get laboratory experience. Look up academic institutions in your area that allow undergraduate students to become trainees in the lab. If you get at least one year laboratory experience then it will help you and the chances that your application to the graduate school will stand out will be higher.

Hey,

I think that service activities are really important because it shows that you are involved with your community! Also all schools like to see that you stay involved. You can even put your service events on your CV for school! I am a current pharmacy student so I am completing service hours too. I have volunteered at a local food bank in town. I have volunteered at a clinic in the pharmacy. I have wrote letters for service members through operation gratitude. There is also bookshare.org for another online volunteering opportunity too!

I hope this helps,
Olivia

Atul’s Answer

You want to go to the graduate school and looking for volunteering work?
Is your undergraduate in Biochemistry?
If not - take the courses that are required to meet their criteria.

Have you taken GRE and have a respectable score?

Finally - there is no relationship of volunteering and trying to get the admission at the Graduate school.

In today’s environment of Covid, universities are hurting for the students especially for the graduate studies. If you have higher GRE and GPA above 3.5 for your undergraduate- you shall have no difficulty.
