Let time take its toll. Get through your first year, second year, take a leap to try new things. Only way to find your purpose right now is by taking leaps of adventures. Things you never tried but sparked curiosity.

Hi m C,

I went through the same thing my first year in college. A good place to start is by asking yourself the following questions about the most fulfilling, happy, and memorable times in your life:

• What things do you love to do and what seems to come easily to you? Are you a natural leader? Do you love working with children? Are you at your best when helping someone else? Pay attention to those things that seem to come easily to you, that are enjoyable, and that others appreciate.
• What types of things give you energy? Perhaps you’re someone who enjoys interacting with others and is very energized after hosting a community event; or you may be someone who enjoys spending quiet time reading but is equally excited about the new ideas you discovered. It’s also important to pay attention to the things that drain your energy for clues about what may not be your purpose.
• When have you experienced the most joy in your life? Think about the times you were involved in something that made you feel strong or happy. What activity were you doing? Were you helping someone in particular? Were you expressing yourself in a certain way? Think about what these times had in common and look for possible patterns.
• What causes do you feel strongly about, or who would you really like to help? There are many problems and issues to solve in the world. Has something happened in your life that makes you want to fix a certain type of problem or injustice? Your feelings and reactions can give you hints about what you might find meaningful to be involved in and associated with.
• What personal qualities or values do you most like to express to others? Some people value helping others learn something new, while others value making others laugh and smile or feel better physically. What qualities of yours do you most enjoy sharing with others?
• If the world was operating perfectly, what would it look like for you? Ask yourself what qualities, skills, and talents you might use to help make that “perfect world” happen, and what that would mean to you.

Doing the work to figure out your purpose can give you a head start in determining what might be a fulfilling career for you. Knowing your purpose can help you make decisions that can lead to a fulfilling and satisfying life, and earning a degree online can help you find a career that aligns with your life purpose.

Good luck!

Jonny’s Answer

Immerse yourself fully in any activity that sparks your interest. If it doesn't bring you happiness, feel free to look for other possibilities. If those don't seem to be the right fit as well, don't stop looking. Finding your true passion isn't a quick journey, it's a process that requires hands-on experiences and a strong desire to succeed. So, don't hold yourself back, just take a chance. This adventure will guide you in revealing your true purpose in life.

College is daunting for most people. My first year was filled with similar doubts. When it comes to dealing with these feelings it's important to give yourself a moment to breathe and gather your thoughts. If you're wondering what you want to do or what you want to pursue, start by focusing on what you like. What are the things you love to do? Once you make a list research and see what careers are available for each. It's a long process, but it really helps with regards to getting a plan. Don't let anyone pressure you into making a quick decision, it's your life and you decide what road you want to travel.

Janet’s Answer

Hello, thanks for asking.

I found my path by volunteering at a LOT of different places. I volunteered with little kids, animals, food drives, helped in kitchens, sports, construction, gardening, you name it and I likely tried it at least once! I found most of these opportunities through my local church that arranged volunteer opportunities. It for sure ruled out things I didn't want to do, and really narrowed down what path was right for me. Volunteering is a great way to experience a lot of different things and may help you find your specific path.

Best of luck to you in your future endeavors!

Naomi’s Answer

It's fine not to have a dream or idea about which career path to take, because often these change over time as you explore them. The more things you do, the closer you will be to finding what you want to do. Besides it's much easier to pattern of you like to do in retrospect.
So the important thing is to keep looking around at the opportunities if you are stuck. Get out and explore so that you can get inspiration.

Naomi recommends the following next steps:

A side note on dreams- if you don't have a dream then you ask some questions to find what you value: If you had 50 million pounds/dollars/etc and could only spend it on one thing, what would that be? e.g travelling the world, charity If you had one wish and could only use it to obtain one material thing? of course money doesn't count, e.g a private jet, house If you could contribute one thing to world? e.g end poverty, design a hit game, create a new kind of vaccine How would you like to be described at your funeral? e.g a great friend, teacher, respected, influential, charismatic Then from that build your dream! Simeon’s Answer

The purpose of one's life is a much bigger question than what you do for a career. Getting to know yourself and your passions is a life-long pursuit. I'd recommend looking for jobs that pay well and aren't as hard to get into. It takes most people getting into a few jobs to find out what jobs are a good fit and which ones are not.
