How hard is it to find a job in professional baseball, specifically a position where i can advance to a higher up position in the front office.

I'm a junior in high school, and i live and breath baseball; I'm interested in majoring in sports management and I'm curious about the difficulty to land a job in the field. #sports-management #baseball #scouting #mlb

Chrissy's answer is perfect. I just want to add that you can also consider interning or working with the MLB offices. That will help you gain some knowledge and experience with the industry as a whole.

Chrissy’s Answer

Hi Robbie,
When I started my career out of college I worked in minor league baseball, which is the best way to get your foot in the door with a major league team. Minor league baseball teams are all around the country and provide you with the experience you need to get a big league gig. Since the staff is usually smaller in the minors, you have more responsibilities and get a more broad skill set. Baseball is a competitive field, but if you can show you have experience in different areas of the front office that will ultimately make you more valuable to a team. Keep an open mind, and if you are willing to relocate for the job you will have an easier time finding a job. Hope this helps! Reach out with anymore questions!
