I am planning to major in Mechanical Engineering and am taking all the math classes that I can. Is there anything else I should do to better prepare myself for college?

I am the youngest of 4 children and I am trying to do everything I can to limit the cost to my parents and myself for college. All of my siblings have degrees that they and my parents have shared the cost of. To that end, I am taking AP classes and am also enrolled in a Calculas II class through a local universities dual credit program ( the first person in my high school to ever do this). I am wondering about programming classes or possibly some construction. #engineer #mechanical

Hi Caleb,

I recommend taking some programming courses too as most mechanical engineering curriculums will have some level programming built in. Calculus, Physics, Math courses definitely help.

Best of Luck!

AP classes and dual credit classes are great to help you with college. Math and Physics are great. But you will have requirements that you may rather get out of the way in advance of starting college. This would include English or a foreign Language class. You will also need Chemistry and maybe programming in school.

The key thing to remember is that the more a class aligns with a degree, the harder it may be to transfer it to your college. The more generic the requirement, it becomes a check box.
