Designers may need a bachelor's degree, especially if they're planning to work for a large game studio. Although some schools offer a degree in game design, aspiring game designers can get the necessary training from computer science, software engineering, or related degree programs. The coursework for a game design program covers subjects like 2D and 3D modeling and animation, level and interface design, storyboard rendering, drawing, and scripting.

Well, the first requirement is the patience and the endless effort to want to learn how to create video games. Obviously, in order to create a video game, you need to know how to write and understand code, there are schools with degrees where you can learn. These majors are Computer Science or Video Game Design but getting into these programs will be costly. If you lack funds and worry about student loans. I would recommend learning it on your own. Best starting and free program that actually helps you understand and how to create video games would be Unity 3D personal edition.
