Yes! If you know what you want to do, it is easier to get connected with the right advisors and faculty if you start the program right away. If you are unsure that this is what you want to do, you might want to wait to declare your major after your freshman year. But don't wait too long - the longer you wait to declare a major, the higher probability of needing to add on additional semesters.
