Hi Sylvia! This is an excellent question! Honestly there is so much to choose from, a quick google search can yield many results. One which I am sure you have heard of is legalizing marijuana, another is the opioid epidemic and even health disparities that have come more to light with with COVID-19. It's always good to have a couple of trustworthy news pages such as MedScape to keep up with changes and situations in the healthcare field.

While I myself am not in the medical field (I’m in finance) , I did grow up in medicine. My father was a doctor. And a few of my nieces/nephews have gone into medicine.

I think one thing to be aware of is the constantly changing landscape of medicine. The influence of insurance companies, hospital and healthcare conglomerates buying small private practices.

Medicine itself may be a science, but the practice of medicine has become a business. Like any career, sing aware of the business trends is important.
