There are a lot of different charting systems out there and each hospital uses its own. I've worked with travel nurses who have used a different system at each place they've been. The program that I have seen most commonly is EPIC. Each system has the same basic tenants but have different ways of documenting and accessing information. You'll get exposed to whatever hospitals use in your area in school and will get trained on it when you are hired as well.

Technical tools that would help in nursing include Epic for charting, Office tools (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc) are excellent for almost any job. I work in information security and Epic is so important there are many different teams of IT professionals employed just to support it for the clinical staff.
