Should i go to a community college #culinary-skills

Thank you comment icon Hi Nykira! I see you tagged your question with "culinary-skills", so I wondered if you were asking professionals specifically about whether or not to go to community college if you want to become a chef.. is that right? If so, can you elaborate a little bit in the "context" field? Tell professionals who see your question more about what your career goal(s) and/or why you're asking this question so that they can answer it with as many details/insights as possible! Basically, the more context and detail YOU provide, the more detail they'll be able to include in their answers:) Lindsey Manning-Djabbari

You really have to evaluate the pros and cons of going to community college as they relate to your lifestyle, your budget, and your career timelines and goals, but there are a lot of benefits to going to community college, especially if you're already working or going part time. Community college can give you more flexibility with your schedule and to take as many or as few classes at a time as you want. Also you can get the same credit for many classes that transfer directly to four year universities for a fraction of the cost. And many great professors teach at major universities and community colleges because they like the flexibility of community colleges and they pay very competitively. Community colleges also have two year degree programs available, degree certification programs, and online course options. A four year university will provide you with a more traditional college experience though and some employers may favor a four year college degree to a community college degree (but it depends on the company and industry). These are all factors to consider when making your decision!
