Hello Skye - to become a doctor, most programs require 4 year undergraduate program (a bachelors degree), followed by applying and being accepted into medical school for 4 years, and then a residency program which can range in length to learn a specialty or focus area. There are schools with accelerated pathways (undergraduate programs that shorten the 4 years with an acceleration into the medical school), but overall, the tie to study to become a doctor is usually more than 10 years and could be longer based on what type of specialty you want to pursue. It is a long time, but a very fulfilling career path.

The length of the program will in part depend on where you do your training. In the United States it is about 10-12 years, but some of those years you are making a smaller salary as you work in the field under a doctor.
Other countries may have shorter programs, but it's also important to consider where you want to practice when you have completed your training. If you want to go abroad to school, but practice near your home country, I would make sure your country will accept your training for your license to practice. I hope this helps!
