Kathleen’s Answer

I am a travel nurse and I enjoy the new places that I can go to every three months. It would not be good if you have children in school but mine are grown.

Temitope’s Answer

This is person specific some people like to work it fast paced areas such as critical care, emergency medicine, flight nursing where there’s something constantly going on. While other may enjoy working with children. Others may enjoy teaching more than physical work.

Temitope recommends the following next steps:

Search what all people can do or where they can work with a nursing degree.
Make a list of those you may or may not like.

Cielo’s Answer

Nursing is so awesome because there are so many different avenues you can explore & eventually, you'll find your niche. You want something exciting, there's the ER. You don't get grossed out too easily & can stand for long periods of time, the operating room might be a good fit. If you wanna be super nurse, then there's the ICU. And eventually, when you're over doing patient care, you can always get an office job in Quality Improvement or Education.

If you have plenty of patience & isn't easily swayed, the Mental Health part of nursing might be good. It can run a gamut from Substance Abuse Disorders or different Psychiatric disorders.

Also, since it's a 24/7 job, you can pick a time of day/shift that works with your schedule.

Good luck!

Sandhya’s Answer

Hi Deyna! Nursing is a great career choice. My mom was a maternity nurse for over 30 years and loved it. If you're considering other medical fields, I want to introduce you to the idea of being a PA, a physician assistant. If you want to prescribe medicine and have a bigger role in making decisions for your patient, PA school might be for you. Nurse practitioners, who have to be nurses first, are very similar to physician assistants even though there are some differences. Here's a website that talks about what PAs do. Good luck!

Sandhya recommends the following next steps:

Google and YouTube the medical positions that you might interested in (nurse, doctor, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, etc.) There's a LOT of information online.
If you have any adults in your life that work in hospitals or doctors' offices, talk to them about they do. Don't be afraid to ask for help. Think about spending a day with them at work.
Once you pick one, study, study, study! You can do whatever you set your mind to!
