Tips on choosing a career in the medical field?

I am a sophmore in high school and I'm planning on pursing a career in the medical field. I'm thinking on becoming some sort of doctor but I'm not sure what exactly I should be. Are there any tips on choosing a specific career or, if you're in the medical field, how you eventually chose the career you're in now? #doctor #medicine #career-choice #physician #medical-field

Michelle’s Answer

Some universities and colleges offer summer programs for students considering a career in health care for a week or two. So I would do some research on this . Doing some shadowing through school as a coop or volunteering in clinic or hospitals might also be a place to get some exposure. I would suggest to mentor with a family doctor if possible to see how life is in clinic. Family docs do abit of everything - so it will be interesting to see the type of skills that are needed and they also work with different age groups as well. On top of that, it involves abit of research and thinking of answers to the questions suggested by Nicoletta. Also it's ok if these plans change as you are quite young and have many experiences ahead of you. Though it is great you are thinking about how to achieve your goals so early in life.
