What should I consider as my major if I want to working in paleontology?

I'm looking forward to working on something about paleontology but I don't know which job I want to do exactly.So what should I study in college?And do you have any college recommend?Thanks. #college-major #paleontology

Hi Yuyang, I recommend checking with a guidance counselor at your school. They're best equipped to answer questions about which classes you'll have to take. You can also reach out to some anthropology or biology departments at schools that you may be interested in attending, they should be able to provide some information, too. Good luck ahead!

I have met exactly one in my life, as positions are few and far between. The path that she took did require years of advanced study. Since Paleontology generally is not an undergraduate major, the option she took was beginning her career in geological sciences. After field work studying rock formations, it led to a Masters of Science afterwards. I also agree that one could chose anthropological sciences or biology, depending on what your intended career within the field is.
