Hello Donovan,

First of all, I think nothing really matter if you don't like what you are doing on your daily work. You need to feel and be happy everyday, accept new challenges, be prepare to fail and make mistakes, but at the same time overcome them; and of course have a good team to support you, a manager that listen to you and provide mentorship/coaching to you, have a good good salary, incentives, growth opportunities, training, would definitely help.

Good question. Work environment is very important. Everyone has different criteria for this. Here's what I believe...

- Studies show that the #1 reason why people leave their jobs is due to a poor relationship with their manager(s). I believe that having personable, supportive and patient managers will naturally cultivate a successful and cohesive environment. If you have a terrible boss, you'll never have a good environment to work in - no matter how great everything else is (in my opinion).

- Good pay and benefits are #2. Companies should be the first to show that you're valuable. If they wait to up your pay when you decide to quit, they're doing it backwards.

- A great team to work with is #3. Having helpful, friendly peers makes the environment so comfortable.

- Opportunities for knowledge/skill growth and increased responsibilities are #4. You don't want to be stuck at 'entry level' forever.

If you are able to get all 4 of these, you've hit the jackpot!
