Hi Kenneth,

This question resonated well with me as I have a masters in Biomedical/Neural Engineering. While I pivoted early in my career into software, you might find my comments helpful.

Ultimately, what's best for you will depend on your career interests and aspirations, which could go a number of directions. Realistic options are going to be limited by your location, availability and flexibility.

I would start by thinking of the major industries you might want to consider working in:
- Biomedical Engineering -> There are a lot of companies like Medtronic that build technologies that leverage combinations of knowledge of biology, computer science, and engineering.
- AI -> Neural Networks are inspired by human neurology, and your blended background in computer science will give you unique perspectives on that.
- Research -> Look at local labs and universities.

From there you can narrow your search and see what is available.

I would also encourage you to call companies you're interested in, say you're a student, and express your interest in talking with someone who works in the field. While this won't always translate into an internship, it will give you an idea of what the job looks like and help you determine exactly how you might want to apply what you're learning.

That is an excellent question. You are already on the right track because internships are a great way to gain experience, build your resume and identify the areas of interest that excite you the most. I suggest researching neuroscience professors/laboratories at universities that you would be interested in working with. By browsing the university websites of professors and their research, you would gain a sense of which labs study questions that interest you and incorporate computer science into their research. It is also a great idea to do the same for biotech, pharmaceutical and engineering companies. In industry, you would most likely apply for internship positions through the corporate website. In academia, you would email the professor directly to inquire about opportunities. Good luck!

I would say to refer to periodicals at your campus library in neuroscience and research the leading innovative companies in that field.
