Excellent query! It seems like you've got some time to develop the abilities or attitude required to earn extra cash with a side hustle while in college. I suggest that, during high school, you consider babysitting, dog walking, or offering services to your close friends and family. This way, by the time you're in college, you'll have experience and a network of people who can vouch for your expertise.

You might also want to explore short-term gigs or jobs. Although the idea of a job might not be appealing, there are numerous short-term opportunities that can be pursued after school or during summer breaks.

Additionally, you could hone a particular skill and sell your creations on platforms like Etsy or similar sites. There are ample chances to generate income.

Pretty much the only legal and reliable way to make money is to have a job. That's kind of the definition. You can do things like invest in the stock market, but a) that's risky and not a guarantee of income, b) it's generally a LONG TERM way to make money - years if not decades, and c) you need money to start doing that.

You can get scholarships and so forth to help with college, but they generally pay for classes, room, board, and books. They don't give you spending money.

Many schools offer work-study programs. You work a few shifts a week and are paid. There are usually limits to how much you can work, so it doesn't interfere too much with your schoolwork. I had a part time job in college with a job related to my major, so it wasn't bad. I got real world experience, I got paid, and made connections.

Otherwise, your options are pretty much limited to working until you go to school and saving. Depending on the job, you may be able to speak with your manager about working over the holidays. Lots of places need extra help that time of year, and having an already trained employee come back is a terrific benefit to them. Of course, this requires you to leave on good terms - being a good worker, giving appropriate notice, etc.

You can earn money from your hobbies or by doing what you enjoy! For instance, if you're passionate about making art, like paintings, mugs, earrings, and more, you can sell them on Etsy or Instagram. Just set up a shop, do some marketing (which can be a lot of work), and start making sales! If you're into making outfit-of-the-day videos, reviewing makeup or movies, or anything similar, you might want to try creating content and sharing it on Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube. You could potentially earn money from views, sponsors, or monetization. It takes hard work and marketing, but you've got this!
