I spent a decade working in this field, specifically in an ambulance, and it was an experience I thoroughly enjoyed. My wife, who works with infants and teenagers, also belongs to the medical profession, and our eldest daughter is currently pursuing her Registered Nurse (RN) training.
To equip yourself for a career in medicine, it's crucial to concentrate on your Anatomy, Physiology, and Biology studies. Moreover, the profession demands a significant amount of report writing, so mastering your Language and Writing courses is equally important. While a career in the medical field is indeed fulfilling, it does involve a substantial time commitment, particularly in the early stages. There may be moments when you question the sacrifices you're making, such as time away from loved ones. But as you progress, you'll find opportunities to work during more desirable hours.
Many hospitals offer volunteer roles that can provide you with a glimpse into the medical world. For instance, one of the hospitals I was affiliated with had a volunteer program where individuals could soothe newborn babies when their parents were unavailable.
