Why is it hard to stay determined ?

I am very self-driven. But sometimes, I doubt myself and feel like I can't accomplish the goals I set for myself. It could be I need to more reasons to stay determined, but that's a struggle too.

The reason I find solace in this concept is that it mirrors the self-doubt that everyone experiences at some point. As others have pointed out, setting small, achievable goals can be a great help. However, it's equally rewarding to reflect on your journey.

Because we live in a highly crowded planet with 8 billion people who many like you are determined, talented and hard working, that makes the journey that much more harder and at times it may feel even unlikely...but from what I have learnt in life the odds improve highly the longer you keep at it! Don't give up, no matter what!
Instead of reason for determination, look for motivation from many a great people in history as well as quotes, motivational books that have the power to inspire you beyond your wildest dreams...stay curious!

What a wonderful question. You show by raising this type of issue a keen insight into some of life's problems.

Allow me to rephrase your question and substitute the word "focused" for the word "determination."

Because being focused requires that you home in on one or two goals exclusively, it is difficult for humans to maintain that level of attention for any period of time. It takes lots of energy and willpower to remain concentrated on any one target, and as you well know in life there are many disruptions and interruptions.

So, dear Eva, accept that your focus or determination will wane from time to time, but when you notice yourself drifting from your goal, simply place yourself back on the path of accomplishment.

One time tested way to get back on the path is to have in mind clear, definable, attainable objectives for yourself. Know what you want to achieve and write those objectives down somewhere so you can always refer to them.

Then when you find your focus or energy flagging, and you will, trot out that list of goals, remind yourself who you are and what you want to accomplish, and get back about it.

You will go far in life, Eva, and your journey will be more pleasant when it is both motivated by your goals and full of forgiveness for yourself when you take an occasional wrong turn.

You may be setting either too many or too large goals. I've always been advised by my mentors to set up goals that are achievable in a reasonable amount of time. As you achieve one goal you can add in another goal and continue to move along your path. Goals that are too large can be overwhelming and that can cause your determination to falter.

Whether it's their wealth, their careers, or even their fame and fashion, many individuals mimic or strive to replicate what they see because it's trendy. However, it's important to note that not everyone can achieve or get away with this.
