Great question Daisy! Your dream is to be a singer and that's wonderful :) Per everyone's advice here, I agree, definitely taking vocal lessons or singing in a church choir, maybe even your school choir, are great options to expand your voice. When it comes to winning awards and being well known, you should set aside time to practice singing, songwriting, learn some music theory, and maybe even an instrument to accompany your songs. Most importantly, song-write and sing as much as you can as the goal is to develop your own voice and unique sound. There is a lot of competition out there, so making sure you lean into your strengths and not just follow trends as this will help set you apart from all the countless musicians out there. Leverage social media, perform locally live, develop an online presence (website, place people can hear your music, etc.) and get to know who supports you and your music - they will help cheer you on your music journey and make it more fun :)

Hey Daisy! I think it would be a good idea to look into getting singing lessons or lessons for an instrument like the guitar or piano. You could also consider joining choir, orchestra, or band if your school offers it. You could also look into joining a playhouse in your area as they often put on musicals. All of these activities could give the opportunity to meet other people who are interested in music and make connections in the industry. You could also try recording covers of popular songs and uploading them to tiktok or youtube so you can begin to grow an audience and get used to being in front of a camera/ hearing your voice recorded. There are also a lot of music mixing/beat making software that you could look into downloading if you're interested in music production. Good luck with your journey!

Hi Daisy, wanting to spread love is a great attitude to have, so way to go!

I agree with the other pros here, learning music and practicing singing is going to be critical for success, so you'll want to find opportunities to do that wherever you can. That might be at school, in your community, etc. Learning an instrument that you can accompany yourself with (e.g. piano, guitar, etc.) is important too; particularly piano because if you want to start recording yourself at some point it's easy to connect keyboards/synthesizers with your computer. [Guitar/other instruments can be easy too, though, so follow your heart.]

Talking about recording: If at some point you want to move beyond using your phone/posting to social media, and you want to learn how to record yourself/make your own songs like the pros do, there are a number of softwares out there, some are even free. They each take a little effort to learn, but there are a lot of tutorials out there on YouTube and other sites. A popular one to start with is Apple GarageBand (free, pre-installed on many Apple devices). There are others out there like AVID Pro Tools Intro* (free, pared-down version of industry-standard Pro Tools software), Cubase, Logic, Reason, FL Studio, etc. but they are more complicated to learn.

The most important thing is to be yourself no matter what, do what you enjoy, and if that's singing, then go for it with everything you've got!
