I'm in my senior year school I start it soon I think I should but not sure

"An image is worth a thousand words" quote is the best way to describe a portfolio. It is the best way to showcase your abilities by showing what you're capable of and letting people better understand your work and expertise.
Using myself as an example, as a Web Developer, I'd like to showcase all the websites I've worked on so people are aware of what I can do when I am applying for a new job.
There are multiple options to create free online portfolios which you can test and see how they work, a quick Google search can list them for you :)
