If you are a music composer in XX century...before or late you need to be in front of the recording, mix, mastering etc of your music. Then "music production " becomes something very valuable and often underestimated for many musicians.
The studio recording can be a experimental laboratory.
Today you can not just to "write a song" . you need to record and produce it !!
Times are changing.

To be honest, You can become a music Producer in many ways. I'm not gonna give you an answer based off of a question I put in CHAT GPT... No here's the real from the field.
I started off Dibbling and Dabbling with a program called Fruity Loops
which is now FL Studios
I started off with the demo for free (you can create but not save)... I'm not promoting piracy but I didn’t have the money in middle school and my parents were too enthused so I found a cracked version and I started my journey
If you're in music classes I suggest that you take them very serious because it will all translate over to production. Notice where you sit at in music class it will help your mixes sound realistic..
You also want to become a student of the MUSIC PRODUCTION learn all genres listen to ALL GENRES become well versed IN ALL GENRES because that will help you become more marketable and also help you work with others.
Get in to real studios with other producers its ok to watch YouTube but you'll get the most game from an in-person experience it'll feel different ... you'll understand it more... and you can ask questions
You'll need equipment. You don't have to start out super High end but you can always upgrade when the time is right..after all its the Ear not the Gear (in most cases)
for example you'll need:
-A computer
-Studio Monitors
-Headphones
-Mixing headphones
-A condenser microphone(if you plan on recording too)
-Cables
-An Interface
-Software (Pro tools, FL STUDIO, LOGIC etc.)
To start off
Then you're on your way ...
be sure to practice, practice , practice
and don’t give up it wont be easy
Work with your peers
Start with the ppl you know and then work around till it’s time to work up
It'll be easier than you think
