Is a gap year a good idea even though I already pretty much know what I want to do?

I have a plan that isn't completely thought out yet, but it's still a thought. The plan is to take a gap year to work and make money to get my foot out of the door. Though I am still unsure about it.

I, too, opted for a gap year after completing high school. It was a demanding choice, yet one that was necessary for me. Looking back, it was one of the most beneficial decisions I've ever made. I spent the entire year working full time, and even maintained a part-time job once I resumed my studies. This was the path I took, and it might be a viable option for you as well.

Opinions on gap year will vary and it will depend on you. The key question that you'd want to answer for yourself is what is your end goal and what's the best approach for you to archive that.

If it's to get a college degree, then consider getting started sooner so you don't get sidetracked by working and getting used to that lifestyle. You could take fewer classes and work part time to get into the grove of college life. Apply for scholarships and grants to help with tuition etc.
