Dena’s Answer

Writing and editing are great areas to pursue if you are proficient in English, writing, grammar, etc. Corporations, news outlets, magazines, blogging, social media and proofreading are just some areas that English majors can pursue employment.

Susan E.’s Answer

I don't think there is really any one answer to this. I think it all depends on what you are interested in. One's score in most cases doesn't depend on the score they got on a test but on their background, skills and experience. I can offer a few suggestions for you:

Susan E. recommends the following next steps:

Figure out what kind of career path you want to go into
Research and interview if that career path needs a score or not. Usually the school to get more education and training will have the score information, but not for the job.
Sharpen up your English skills or improve in the areas of all aspects of writing

Faith’s Answer

I consistently ask myself this question. Like you, English has also being one of my strengths and i have found ways to tailor that around my career. Look inward, and find out exactly what capacity you want to put your Shakespearian skills to use. Your options are vast. You could really build your knowledge base and aspire to be a Talk show host, public speaker, Newscaster, Public relations specialist, Speech consultant, Litigator, Attorney, Writer, Editor etc . Dont forget, you are not boxed in. You can take your innate English abilities, and transfer them into whatsoever career path sets you on fire, the most. While searching for these answers, enjoy the process.

John’s Answer

Consistently the most important skill in any job is communication. Written and spoken language is very important in the "business world". How do you like to apply your skills to your hobbies and interests?

I would encourage you to pursue different uses for "english" and figure out what you enjoy. Try editing a friends paper or. Try writing a short story or poem. Try creating a presentation and presenting it to an audience. Try learning another language as well. Try whatever you can think of that would compliment your proficiency in English. When you can identify how enjoying using your skill, you can start to match that with careers.

Also ask yourself, "what else am I good at" or "what else do I enjoy doing". If you can find intersections of your english skill and personality traits (are you more introverted or extraverted, do you enjoy collaborating or working alone, are you very creative or analytical, ect) you will be able to build a better understanding of the professional value you can provide.
