Max,

There is a law called the Americans with Disabilities Act. It requires employers to make "reasonable accommodations" for employees with disabilities. This includes during the interview process. You would want to coordinate with the Human Resources department as far as what needs you would have.

The Job Accommodation Network is a site used by employees and employers to help navigate accommodations for various disabilities. I'm providing a link for you to help you with this research process. Knowledge is Power, and, you are going to have to be your own strongest advocate throughout life. It's good that you are beginning to think about this now! I had to have accommodations the last 18 years of my 35 year career. The better you can articulate (orally or in writing) your needs, the easier this will be for you!

Nathan’s Answer

Hello Max,

The impact of your Tourette's on your work largely hinges on its intensity and the nature of your job.

I can relate to your situation, as I've battled Dyslexia throughout my life. It's required me to put in extra effort to stay on par with my contemporaries. However, remember that these extra challenges are opportunities for growth. They can help you excel in your area of focus.
