Hi Bin, you do not need an internship to stick out as a better professional but it can help! Other things that will help you stick out will be developing your skills that are related to the job you want to get. Doing LinkedIN courses, getting certifications, and even doing independent projects to show you are actively learning will help! Just make sure to update your LinkedIn and Resume with these ongoing learning activities/accomplishments.

One of the mindsets that I have adopted is to try and be the best employee that I can be for my boss. Sometimes that means offering to do a little more. Sometimes that means learning a new skill or process to be more beneficial.

I often ask my supervisors what I can do to better support them. I think most employees simply look to see what their boss should be doing for them. At the end of the day, our leaders are also people just trying to get through the day.
