Do you need lots of connections to get into the tech industry?

There is not a definite answer to this question. Having connection (referrals) may help but you do not need it to get into the software industry. If you prepare yourself to be job ready and for the interview, you will certainly find jobs on your own. Good luck!

You may not need a lot of connections. Or any at all. Or some. A lot depends on exactly what you want to do in the industry; if your goal is a very technical position, it's more important to have that specific expertise and ability, but if you want to be in sales or management, then your people skills are going to have a lot of weight. That said, knowing people and having "connections" may well help you get your foot in the door for that interview, so it certainly doesn't hurt.

I think having connections is important but I believe that you will get your foot through the door in tech based on your education, mindset and desire to learn in the field. You can find connections via tech platforms and linkedin. If you are going to school, your tech professors or teachers can help as well if you have shared with them what field in tech that you are interested in.
